Oil Based Moisturizer? Go Right Ahead.

If you’ve ever looked at an oil-based moisturizer and thought,
“Putting oil on my face sounds like a terrible idea…” you’re definitely not alone.
A lot of us grew up hearing that oil is the enemy when it comes to skincare. If your skin is oily, acne-prone, or sensitive, the thought of adding more oil can feel completely backwards.
But here’s the truth: Your skin actually needs oil!
In fact, your skin naturally produces oil every single day to keep itself soft, protected, and balanced. The problem usually isn’t oil itself. The problem is when we strip too much of it away. Harsh cleansers, over-exfoliating, and drying skincare products can leave your skin feeling tight and dry, and when that happens, your skin often goes into overdrive trying to replace what was lost. That’s why sometimes the skin that feels the oiliest is actually dehydrated underneath.
So Why Use Oils?
Because oils help support your skin barrier and keep moisture from escaping.
Think of them less like “grease” and more like nourishment for your skin.
The right oils can help your skin feel:
Softer
Calmer
More balanced
Better protected from dryness and irritation
And no, not all oils are heavy or pore-clogging. One of my favorite ways to moisturize dry or irritated facial skin is with our Healing Balm. It was originally created for skin in need of extra care, and many of our customers have fallen in love with using it on the face, especially during dry weather or when their skin barrier feels compromised. It’s made with ingredients chosen specifically to nourish and comfort the skin:
Calendula-infused sunflower oil
Sacha inchi oil
Aloe-infused olive oil
Beeswax

No synthetic fragrance. No essential oils. Just simple ingredients that help support your skin naturally.
A Little Goes a Long Way
If you’re new to using oils on your face, here’s my advice: Start small.
You only need a tiny amount, much less than you think. Warm a little between your fingertips and press it into damp skin after cleansing. It leaves the skin feeling nourished and protected, not greasy, when used correctly.
If your skin has been feeling dry, irritated, tight, or just out of balance, don’t be afraid of oils.
Sometimes giving your skin the nourishment it’s been missing is exactly what helps it calm down. And if you’ve never tried an oil-based facial moisturizer before, Healing Balm is a beautiful place to start.
